Clear, practical guides for writing, compiling, and sharing LaTeX and Typst projects.

Use and publish templates

Start a project from the template library, and publish your own from a project or a GitHub repository.

Find and use a template

The Templates page lists built-in templates and the ones people have published, each with its files and a compiled PDF.

How to do it

  1. Open Templates and type in Search templates…, or sort by Recommended, Most starred or Name.
  2. Switch the scope between All, Starred, Mine, Built-in and Community to see everything, the ones you starred, the ones you published, the ones JointTex ships, or the ones other people published.
  3. Open a template to read its description, author, license and tags, browse its Files, and choose View PDF or Download PDF.
  4. Choose Use this template to create a new project of your own from it.
  5. Choose Star template on the ones you come back to, so they appear under Starred.

Publish a project as a template

Publishing takes a public snapshot of a project you own, compiles it, and lists it in the library.

How to do it

  1. Open the project's menu on the Projects page or in the editor and choose Publish as template, or choose Publish template on the Templates page and pick the source project.
  2. Fill in the template name, description, license and tags; tags are separated by commas.
  3. Confirm, and wait while JointTex reads the project, compiles it and publishes it.
  4. Find the result under Mine on the Templates page.

Publish from GitHub and maintain a template

A template can also be read straight from a GitHub repository, and every template you published stays yours to update.

How to do it

  1. On the Templates page choose Import from GitHub and enter the repository as owner/name or its github.com address.
  2. Choose Fetch details to fill in the name, author, license and description from the repository, its LICENSE and its README, then check the fields before publishing.
  3. Use Edit template to change the details of a template you published.
  4. Use Republish template when the public snapshot should pick up your later changes.
  5. Use Delete template to remove it from the library.
