What the desktop app adds
Compile with your own TeX
Use TeX Live, MacTeX or MiKTeX on your computer, with your own packages and fonts — or keep compiling on JointTex servers.
Keep writing offline
Projects you have opened stay editable without a connection. Your changes sync when you are back online.
Still collaborative
The same projects, comments, history and co-authors you see on the web.
Opening it the first time
- macOS: if it says JointTex cannot be opened, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security (on macOS 12: System Preferences → Security & Privacy) and choose “Open Anyway”.
- Windows: if SmartScreen says it protected your PC, choose “More info”, then “Run anyway”.
- Linux: make the AppImage executable (chmod +x JointTex-*.AppImage) and open it, or install the .deb with sudo apt install ./JointTex-*.deb, or the .rpm with sudo dnf install ./JointTex-*.rpm.
