Clear, practical guides for writing, compiling, and sharing LaTeX and Typst projects.

Work offline

Keep writing without a connection, keep whole projects in this browser, and sync safely when you are back.

What is kept automatically

A project you open while connected is kept in this browser, so losing the connection does not stop you from writing.

How to do it

  1. Open a project at least once while you are connected; that is what makes it available later.
  2. If the connection drops while you write, the save dot at the left end of the status bar changes, and pointing at it says you are working offline. Keep editing: your edits are kept in this browser and uploaded when the server can be reached again.
  3. If the server cannot be reached when you open the Projects page, it lists the projects this browser has kept under Available offline.
  4. Open one of them and continue working.

Keep a whole project available offline

Keep available offline fetches the project's files ahead of time, and fetches them again each time you open the project while connected.

How to do it

  1. Open the project, open the project menu in the title bar and choose Keep available offline.
  2. Wait while the notice counts the files being kept, until it says the project is available offline in this browser.
  3. Turn it on before you travel, while you still have a connection.
  4. Choose Keep available offline again to turn it off; the files are no longer updated for offline use.

Reconnecting and logging out

Edits made offline are uploaded when the server is reachable again; the one thing that discards them is logging out first.

How to do it

  1. Reconnect and leave the project open until pointing at the save dot in the status bar says Saved.
  2. Anything that needs the server tells you so while you are offline, and your edits are kept in this browser meanwhile.
  3. If logging out shows Changes not uploaded yet, cancel, reconnect and let the projects sync. Log out anyway deletes those changes from this browser.
  4. If a notice says this browser's copy could not be merged and was kept aside, choose Download this browser's copy to save your version; the editor now shows the server's version.
  5. If a notice says your changes are larger than the server can receive at once, download a copy to keep them safe.
